KnowExpensePrivacy Policy

KnowExpense ("we", "us") provides a free bill-splitting and personal finance tracking app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Account information — your email address, username, and display name.
- Financial content you enter — expenses, amounts, categories, groups, bills, budgets, and settlement records. These are stored to provide the service; KnowExpense does not connect to your bank and does not move money.
- Receipt images — if you scan a receipt, the image is sent to an optical-character-recognition service to extract line items, and is not retained after processing.
- Usage and diagnostic data — basic, non-advertising analytics to keep the app reliable.
How we use your information
- To operate core features: splitting bills, tracking spending, and sending you the notifications you enable.
- To secure your account and prevent abuse.
- To improve reliability and performance.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Sharing
Expense and balance information you add to a group is visible to the other members of that group. We use trusted infrastructure providers (for hosting, database, authentication, email, and push notifications) that process data on our behalf under their own security commitments.
Data retention & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Advanced → Delete account. This removes your access; shared group history may be retained for the other members of those groups.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and access is restricted by row-level security so you only see your own data and the groups you belong to.
Children
KnowExpense is not directed to children under 13.
